Climate change continues, but the adverse effects in The Netherlands seem manageable. Most of the changes appear gradually, so that citizens, businesses and governments can adapt. Moreover, there is now considerable attention in the policy for the effects of climate change such as flooding.
At the request of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment, the PBL has – in collaboration with various research institutes in The Netherlands – updated the report on Climate Effects in the Netherlands from 2005. This involves climate change and its effects on water safety, availability and quality, as well as on nature, agriculture, health and tourism in the Netherlands.
